Movement One
Welcome to The Movement One by DeAAt
A global initiative designed to challenge and expand how we view creativity, The Movement aims to celebrate diverse perspectives by looking back to move forward. For our first campaign, we’ve chosen “Inspiration from Traditional Architecture” as our theme, inviting emerging artists and designers from around the world to reinterpret the timeless beauty and wisdom of architectural traditions. This is not about replicating the past, but about reimagining it—transforming these age-old forms into new, innovative works that speak to the future. Join us as we explore how tradition, culture, and creativity can converge to shape a more inspired and connected world.
1. Vision: Why the Movement Exists
-
Creativity is more than a skill—it’s a way of seeing, questioning, and reshaping the world. At DeAAt, we believe in creativity as a cultural connector—something that thrives on diversity, heritage, and bold reinterpretation. The Movement is a global platform initiated by DeAAt to amplify new creative perspectives and encourage artists and designers to look beyond trends—toward something deeper, rooted, and human.
2. Rethinking Inspiration: Looking Back to Look Forward
-
In every part of the world, traditional architecture reflects the values, philosophies, and materials of a place. From adobe homes in North Africa to stepped temples in Central America, from carved wooden facades in Eastern Europe to intricately tiled mosques in the Middle East—these structures are living archives of knowledge. Too often, they're treated as relics. We believe they are fuel: for design, storytelling, and innovation.
3. Campaign Theme: “Inspiration from Traditional Architecture”
-
For our first Movement campaign, we invite creatives around the globe to explore the theme “Inspiration from Traditional Architecture.” This is not about copying forms—it’s about discovering how ancestral design principles, spatial poetry, and material wisdom can inform contemporary creative work. What can the past teach us about sustainability, beauty, or function? What new meaning can arise when ancient ideas meet modern tools?
4. Global Collaboration: How Artists Are Participating
-
Led by DeAAt, this campaign brings together emerging designers and artists from across continents. Through posters, objects, digital works, and more, participants reinterpret architectural heritage from their own cultures and others they've learned from. This is a collective act of translation and transformation—sharing stories that cross borders, mediums, and disciplines. The works will be exhibited, shared, and celebrated across platforms to inspire wider dialogue.
5. Purpose: What We Hope to Spark
-
At its core, The Movement is about expanding creative imagination. We want to inspire a shift: from designing in isolation to designing with cultural awareness and respect. DeAAt’s role is to support this vision—not just by curating work, but by building space for reflection, exchange, and growth. We hope this campaign plants a seed in each viewer: that creativity is strongest when it draws from deep roots and reaches for shared futures.
